Researchers from the department of neurology at Northwestern University have discovered that moderate levels of sunlight at biologically appropriate times have a significant influence on weight. These findings support evidence from two earlier studies showing that 45 minutes of sunlight exposure between 6 and 9am revs up metabolism, curbs appetite and lowers body fat. The mechanism behind these biological changes appears to be the activation of special genes that are found in cells known as "clock genes".
